APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) is proud to announce details of the nominees for the 2009 APRA Music Awards, which will be held at the Peninsula in Melbourne on Tuesday June 23rd. These nominees, across 8 categories including the peer voted APRA SONG OF THE YEAR, represent the songwriters behind the most successful works of 2008.

Sydney Australia: From April 24 Spencer Jones, Paula Baxter (BV’s for Norman Cooke and Paul Mac), Steve Balbi (Noiseworks plus performances with David Bowie, Tom Jones, Jenny Morris and Michael Hutchence), Natasha Stuart (Ricki Lee) and Simon Meli (Ooh la la) will be lining up for “The Great Gig in the Sky”, celebrating the archetype mystical performance rock band Pink Floyd, joined by a superb 6 piece band musically directed by Joseph Calderazzo.
This is not your average tribute band but an amazing annual concert, now in its sixth year, where an exceptional array of guest vocalists and musicians come together to celebrate and re-create that unmistakable Floydian magic.
These popular Australian artists will perform and re-interpret all the classics you’ve grown up with from the seminal albums “Dark Side of the Moon”, “The Wall” and “Wish You Were Here”.
The Great Gig In The Sky launches the beginning of the Classic Rock Concert Series by CC Entertainment, who have been delivering memorable concerts celebrating rock greats from the 70’s
to sell out crowds since 2003.This is the first of many in the Classic Rock Concert Series not to be missed.
