In the 80’s, the Sydney live “pub” scene was the breeding ground for 2 iconic Australian rock groups, INXS and Midnight Oil. However, in recent times, there is no argument that Sydney has suffered creative drought of live music, and the archaic liquor licensing laws have been the core factor of blame. The 1st of July signalled changes to the laws that offers to reinvigorate a bright future for Sydney’s (and statewide) music scene.
The good people at Gibson invited the Music Producers Forum to check out Sydney Northern Beaches indie band Stone Parade at the Oxford Art Factory. Battling one of Sydney’s coldest nights, a miss guided GPS device and peak hour traffic was well and truly worth the effort.

Following on from a string of sold out Rolling Stones “Beggars Banquet” concerts in February, CC Entertainment proudly present the annual TANGLED UP IN DYLAN…reinterpreting the words and music of Bob Dylan in a series of concerts to be held from Dee Why to Canterbury culminating at The Basement on Friday 30 May.

Every Thursday at the Captain Cook Hotel in Sydney, the Jam Cooki open mic showcases local talent. Next Thursday 17th April, Music Producers Forum member, Ben Briedis will be performing, and on 8th May, Zara Meow.

At this week’s Music Producers Forum meeting, we gathered at the Surf Rock Hotel to hear the sets of Open Mic’ers. One of our newest members Sydney independent artist, (Singer, songwriter and killer piano player) Zara Meow introduced her self in stunning style with her electronic piano at hand, on centre stage at the Surf Rock.
