Classroom Music-Making

By using different instruments of the Recorder-Family (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass recorder) this tutor turns playing on the “simple” recorder into an almost orchestral experience. The repertoire ranges from new compositions by the editor to arrangements of works by the “great” classical composers.
Though primarily intended for classroom instruction from the fifth grade up, this tutor is also ideal for recorder consorts of mixed age groups at music schools (tenor and bass recorders set aside for children roughly ten years and older).

Entering At Top Level

With new AP-200 starting out in the CELVIANO class becomes a light bulb experience. The eleven tones in AP-200 are based upon high performance AiF sound generation, which already is making itself heard in the newest PRIVIA generation and offers a breathtakingly dynamic sound experience.

Applying a demanding filter technology, the sumptuous AiF sound generation enables subtle differences in volume and sound nuances depending on the power of the stroke, thus rendering the complex sound of a grand piano with extreme authenticity. Two high quality grand piano sounds do not only fall on open ears with advanced pianists. In addition to 128-note polyphony this instrument features a scaled hammer action keyboard.

Moreover, additional functions like, for instance, a recording system (2 tracks, 1 song, 5,000 notes) a layer and split feature as well as numerous terminals (2 headphone terminals, MIDI-IN/MIDI-OUT). In sum, AP-200 commends itself for all committed and demanding beginners.

New CELVIANO is presumably available beginning May 2008, the recommended price is 999.—Euros.

Beginner Keyboards With Climber Qualities

Once again CASIO proves its competence in the newcomer bracket with standard keyboard CTK-2000 and lighting key keyboard LK-220. Both of these new instruments contain the novel 48-note polyphonic AHL sound chip (Acoustic & Highly Compressed Large Waveform) guaranteeing high quality sound.

400 top notch tones and 150 rhythms define the diverse sound universe of these two instruments. New pop and rock rhythms as well as styles from all over the world provide cutting edge accompaniments.

In both instruments the new CASIO Step Up lesson system meaningfully supports keyboard training: As in traditional music education, the rehearsal tune is divided into individual phrases (bar sections), which then are learnt step by step. This concept of smaller lesson units derives from the revised step order – step 1: Listen, step 2: Look, step 3: Remember – and yields keen motivation and rapid success.

A useful extra is the audio input that can be used to connect an external sound source: Using the loudspeaker in the keyboard players can hear their favourite song as a backing track while they play along the keyboard part. The sampling function is another highlight to be mentioned: Recordings of up to one second can be played on the keyboard.

Discover Clarity from DACS

DACS manufactures outstanding audio equipment. Always innovative, sometimes quirky, they unfailingly achieve the highest technical standards, and some of the best sounding units around.

Take the award winning FREQue II: the best sounding ring modulators by far (SOS, Paul Nagle). Valentin Seabass, and Jacqui Smith at Real World studios use it to give subtle colouring up to dramatic mangling.

Take the HeadLite: sounds so good one Irish performer missed her cue just listening; sounds so true, one reviewer had to make sure he wasn’t hearing artificial detail – he wasn’t (Audio Media, Nigel Palmer); so versatile Calum Malcolm described it as “Ideal”.

Take the MicAmp: universally described as astonishingly detailed and realistic, Marco Migliari at Real World said “vocals just sounded really good”, Fred Purser at Trinity Heights said “the sax just came alive”, while Philip Hobbs of Linn Records said only one of his Mic pres came close, and that’s no longer made.

Take the Eightch: 8 channels of pure clear level control, with precise phase and tracking matching between channels.

Take the brand new HeadMaster: a breakthrough product for today’s DAW users. It combines Crookwood’s D to A conversion, monitoring, and an independent headphone amplifier.

The Crookwood D-A uses a technique that makes it impervious to jitter on the incoming signal, and provides unobtrusive anti aliasing filtering. The result is a clean accurate audio output, unaffected by jitter, or other digital anomalies. It simply does not get any better than this.

The inputs use THAT InGenius® balanced input ICs providing 90dB CMRR, DC coupling and THD+N figures of around 0.0005%.

The headphone output uses DACS’ renowned Clarity headphone driver circuit. The balanced outputs are DACS’ high performance driver circuits.

The ease of use and very high specification of this unit make it an essential control centre for any DAW user intent on producing the best quality audio.

High Cholesterol

De Gier Guitars & Basses introduces the High Cholesterol, a new pickup for electric guitar. It is a humbucker-size pickup with a nickel cover. But the sound is not humbucker at all, it is a big, fat and loud single coil sound with much punch and definition, worthy of the name High Cholesterol. And it is totally quiet.
We have spent much time developing this pickup. It will be fitted in our Reflection guitars as standard pickup from now on. It will also be seperately available. Please visit our booth (4.0 D70) for more information.

PLANET WAVES UNVEILS NEW IMPROVED

Straps Patterns Inspired By Fashions of the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies

FARMINGDALE, NY, January 16, 2008 – Preserving the origin of the Planet Waves line, D’Addario has taken straps to a new level, allowing musicians to express personality and style with their music but also with their straps. With the addition of new designs and innovations such as the Planet Lock release, Stoned Leather and Retro Collections, as well as the new Pat Metheny Signature Straps, Planet Waves simplifies while providing style.

Planet Waves Planet Lock release is a guitar strap with integrated locking ends that prevent potentially damaging instrument falls. The Planet Lock Strap is available in the five best selling strap patterns with a retail price of $29.99. “Our new and improved design for the Planet Lock release guitar strap has resulted in a product with 60 percent smaller strap ends and an improved locking mechanism,” comments Brian Vance, Senior Product Manager. “Fitting on standard strap pins, there is no need to change the existing hardware on the guitar.”

Planet Waves is also pleased to introduce the Stoned Leather Collection. Six exciting new straps made of quality distressed leather with exciting full-length graphics. Printed with a unique process that prevents the graphics from scratching off, patterns will include The Baron, Bio-Mechanics, Horror Show, The Pentangle, Blood Stripes and Fashion X and will retail for $69.99.

The Planet Waves best-selling Retro Collection is introducing five new woven strap patterns with high quality leather ends inspired by fashions of the fifties, sixties, and seventies. The straps are made of tubular nylon for a comfort fit, have a built-in pick pocket and come with a free pick! These new straps will retail for $26.99.

D’ADDARIO LAUNCHES NEW XL STRING LINES, FROM BRIGHT AND CONTEMPORARY TO VINTAGE WARMTH

Contemporary Metal Mix for Brilliant Projection—Return of a Classic for Sixties Warmth

FARMINGDALE, NY, July 27, 2007— D’Addario is injecting new spirit and vigor into the popular XL electric string line. A new and specially-formulated alloy sets a standard for shimmering bright tones without harshness, while a favorite metal returns, tweaked for today’s music and reflecting a new appreciation for the sounds of the ‘50s and ‘60s. Introducing D’Addario Pro Steel Guitar Strings and Pure Nickel Strings, two divergent tonal choices united by D’Addario’s restless innovation, vision and consistency.

D’Addario XL ProSteels strings replace the existing XLS Stainless Steel line. The new XL ProSteels deliver a super-bright tone, but without shrill overtones. Available in the same gauges as the existing XLS Stainless Steels, XL ProSteels incorporate the identical alloy as employed in the wildly successful D’Addario ProSteels bass line. The effect is similar for guitar: a palette of harmonically rich, brilliantly penetrating highs combined with pronounced, tight and tough lows. ProSteels will be ship as of early August and will be available in the following gauges: EPS510/520/530 – $ 9.79. EPS540 – $10.79. EPS590/600 – $11.99. EPS490 – $16.99 EPS500 – $21.99

D’Addario XL Pure Nickel strings look back to the early ‘50s, when nickel was the primary alloy found in electric guitar strings. Into the ‘60s, these pure nickel strings would be supplanted when guitarists required brighter tone and enhanced magnetic properties—characteristic of the D’Addario XL nickelplated steel string line. But pure nickel aficionados remained and their numbers have grown. They long for classic, mellow timbres that define many genres including blues, classic rock, rockabilly, and more. The new XL Pure Nickel satisfies that yearning for a fat, warm electric guitar tone devoid of stridency. D’Addario’s XL Pure Nickel Strings will be available xxx and are available in D’Addario’s standard gauges: 110, 120 and 115. All sets will retail for $11.99.

NEW LOOK TO D’ADDARIO’S XL PACKAGING UNITES BEST-SELLING STRING FAMILY

Brighter Packaging Brings Consistency, Delineates Diverse Offerings

FARMINGDALE, NY, July 27, 2007—D’Addario’s packaging has continually been designed to aid both the retailer and consumer –easy design, simple call outs and color-coded packages to easily identify string gauges. D’Addario is proud to announce a fresh new look in XL packaging and the addition of two new, exciting XL lines —one that unites all products in the line, from electric guitar to bass, but that clearly distinguishes D’Addario’s sub-brands while remaining true to the well-known look and easily recognizable D’Addario XL packaging.

Inspired by the successful re-launch of D’Addario’s bass string line, the new packaging brings across-the-board consistency to the diverse XL line, combined with instant visual recognition of the essential attributes of the various strings within the XL family. Each sub-brand will maintain its unique identification and feel. In fact, all packaging within the electric brand family will now have distinctive fonts to distinguish each sub-brand—for example Pro Steels, Nickel Wound, Half Rounds, Pure Nickel and Chromes. Another consumer-friendly adjustment: gauges will appear in consistent colors across the various types. In addition, tone and feel descriptors will be added to packaging for each string type.

Linea Macchi by Edgar E. Russ, Cremona, Italy

Linea Macchi is a new line of instruments (violin, viola and cello) from the workshop of Edgar E. Russ in Cremona characterized by excellent quality at an affordable price.
The top, the back, the ribs and the neck are manufactured by violinmakers whom I personally know and appreciate for their good craftsmanship. The most critical steps in the creation of a violin however are performed under my supervision in the workshop to guarantee that a superbly sounding instrument will end up in your hands:

+ The graduation of the thickness of top and the back has a profound impact on the sound of the later instrument and I personally decide and make sure that they are perfectly adjusted;
+ The bassbar is made by us in the same way I make it for my Master instruments;
+ The closure of the soundbox;
+ The neck setting which ensures an equilibrated sound over all four strings
+ The varnish which you can choose either antique or new style
+ The set up to obtain the best possible sound

The Linea Macchi instruments satisfy the needs of both amateurs and professionals.

Black as the night – hot as fire.

Reloop shows its dark side: The new BlackFire edition presents itself in a new, deep black outfit, whereby the RMX-40 DSP will increase its already high popularity. Besides the revised potentiometers and the newly designed, bright LEDs, the professional mixer’s DSP effect unit clearly stands out. Combined with a beatcounter, the effect parameters can be assigned to differnt timings or they can be modulated manually with a time and a level/depth paramter. The Reloop RMX-40 series is especially DJ-friendly due to its headphones output with equalizer and mono switch. Furthermore reversible faders with adjustable curves, output level LEDs as well as an automatic beatcounter are available for each channel. The crossfader can control every input channel, activate sources via fader start and cut all frequencies via the kill switches. A mixer for every occasion.

Crack-resistent oboes and clarinets… made of wood !

New innovative materials for manufacturing musical instruments

Frankfurt/M. 12. März 2008 It seems to be just a question of time that oboes do crack – in spite of carful handling. Concerts in cold churches in midsummer let appear beads of cold sweat on oboists foreheads. Even respected manufacturers offer head joints made of plastic as an act of „self-defense“…
Oboes, clarinets and bassons, which endure change from fridgerator to sauna without damage, which are made of wood and sound great – hard to belive…

Together with the respected manufaturers Gebr. Mönnig – Oscar Adler & Co. / Markneukirchen and Wegscheider / Dresden the Dresden/Germany located company HEYDAY’S® now has manufactured prototypes of woodwind instruments and organ pipes made of a wood, modified and refined by HEYDAY’S® which promise exactly that. The instruments are presented first time at the Musikmesse 2008 in Frankfurt/Main and can be tested.

Beside excellent acoustic properties and a noble look the instruments are remarkable positiv light-weight. Due to the modification and finishing of the wood the instruments are protected long-lasting from moisture and show enormous dimensional stability and crack-resistance even under changing climate conditions.

These extraordinary properties make [arbo] sonic® a ideal material for the whole woodwind and organ manufacturing as well as for production of fingerboards of string instruments. There are hardly no limits of applicabiliy.

For manufacturers the technology has a surplus advantage. They can pass on long-lasting and cost-intensive wood – storage with high waste rates. The material can be ordered realtime and processed almost 100% waste-free.

All that glistens is gold…

New method for gold-plating instruments in one single process – outside AND inside.

Frankfurt/M. 12. März 2008 Gold, the nobelst metal is not just used for electro-plating because of its uncomparable gloss. It also stands out due to its chemical resistance. Unfortunately it is quite soft and therefore cannot bear mechanically stress well. Despite its chemical resistance hand-perspiration can diffuse through galvanic layers due to its specific structur and cause corrosion of the basic materials. That will finally damage the gold plating too.

Beside other innovative products the Dresden/Germany located company HEYDAY’S® presents within market launch a new patented technology for producing ultra-thin golden layers for surface refinement which stands out due to very low wear-off rates and high perdurability. Due to the low layer thickness audible acoustic side effects are virtually exclosed.

With HEYDAY’S® – manufactura / gold it is possible to coat looped pipes of e.g. brasswind instruments or S-bows of bassons inside for the first time too. As a result, brasswind instruments can be completely protected from corrosion and „red rot“ in one process and make glare in golden brilliance. The technology is also suitable for keys of woowind instruments and other mechanically stressed parts – even strings could be plated.

Ball bearing – like working trombone slides – without lubrication

World Novelty ! First slide coating for trombone slides and valves of brasswind instruments

Frankfurt/M. 12th march 2008 Ball-bearing like working trombone slides and perfectly seize-free working valves of brasswind instruments – every brass players dream. Without ongoing cleaning and re-lubing…

Beside other innovative products the Dresden/Germany located company HEYDAY’S® presents within market launch a brand new technology making this possible.

HEYDAY’S® – slide is not a common temporary slide lubricant based on fat/oil or silicon. This is a totally new, semi-permanent coating material especially developed for slides and valves of brass instruments. With HEYDAY’S® – slide, common lubricants are unnecessary on ideal conditions. Applikation of HEYDAY’S® – slide is very simple – it is sprayed on from a small handy dispenser bottle. After one hour of drying the slide coating works. Trombonists simply have to spray water on their slides as usually ! Depending on playing frequency one single application lasts several weeks.

A similar technology (HEYDAY’S® – slide permanent) was developed to coat trombone slides and valves of brasswind instruments with a permanent (life-long) slide coating, which is ultra-thin, scratch resistant and has additional corrosion protection properties. The coating is provided as a service for manufacturers of trombones and other brasswind instruments, which can offer this technology as a surplus value for their customers.

No chance for dangerous germs…

World Novelty ! First long-term desinfection for wind instruments

Frankfurt/M. 12th march 2008 Who has not ever taken a students instrument in a rush or tested mouthpieces of others? Not seldom you are punished with a herpes bubble on your lips next day. Smear infections caused by mouthpieces are an easy but effective way for transmission of diseases – herpes may be just a harmless, nevertheless disagreable sample. Beside brasswind, particularly woodwind instruments are affected due to the organic material they are made of – together with the humid-warm climate it is an ideal culture medium for bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Beside other innovative products the Dresden/Germany located company HEYDAY’S® presents within market launch a solution of that problem, which surpasses all present standards.

HEYDAY’S® – mp refresh – brass resp. -wood is the first long-term disinfection for mouthpieces of braswind resp. woodwind instruments. In contrast to common disinfecting sprays or gas sterilization, its anti-microbiotic and virus-inactivating effect lasts up to at least 7 DAYS* after one single use. When regularly used life-span of single and double reeds is additionally extended due to prevention of a all microbial degradation processes. Naturally HEYDAY’S® – mp refresh is also suitable for all other surfaces of musical instruments – for all those who like it a bit more hygienic.

Thus HEYDAY’S® – mp refresh is ideal for the use in schools, music schools, kindergartens… and respectively instruments played by numerous musicians as it is the case with student instruments, rental instruments, instruments at trade fairs, stores etc.

The JMC Folk is pleasant for its pure line, its sound richness, its play comfort and its precision

Soundboard in Risoud resonance spruce, body and neck in European walnut, fingerboard and bridge in olive tree, golden Waverly tuning keys, natural satin-matt varnish.

JMC’s corporate philosophy is geared towards the effective development and use of the wood from the Risoud Forest, as well as Swiss and European woods in general.

350 years old, as upright as ever, and still in great shape given its age. Throughout its life, it has been spared by insects and by mould, thanks to its iron constitution. It has grown slowly, without too much water or too much heat, at an altitude of 1,200 metres. Its close companions protected it from the wind and the sun. It is neither twisted nor knotted. Throughout these years, it has stored up the energy from the earth and sky. The spruce is strong and harmonious.

The tree gatherer locates it. Thanks to his experienced eye, he appraises its outline and its appearance. He senses the personality of the plant and his heart begins to race. He measures it and sizes it up, touches it, strokes it, and perhaps even embraces it. In any case, he speaks to the tree and thanks it.

Resonance wood is the heart of a tree speaking to the heart of a man.

Launching of the ZZYZX Snap Jack Cable – Magnetic Precision Technology

La Mirada, CA August 10, 2007 – JODAVI,, Inc has launched it’s innovative ZYZX Snap Jack cable in the U.S. at the 2007 Summer Namm Show in Austin, Texas in July. The patented Snap Jack cables uses OFC high quality helical braided shield cables and neodymium magnets with gold plated contacts. Not only will it deliver noise-free dynamic sound, Snap Jack magnets allow for quick detachment when cable is subject to extensive tension, reducing the risk of personal injury and damage to guitars, cables and amplifiers. It also eliminates the obnoxious popping or screeching sound when plugging or unplugging the cable while amplifier is on. With this feature, it creates a quick transition for players to switch to other guitars. By utilizing the extra jack tips, multiple guitar players are able to switch instruments without hassle.

“Through precision engineering and manufacturing techniques, Jodavi has finally managed to eliminate the popping noise when the jack is pulled. This product utilizes a two part jack design. Each half has a magnet that corresponds to the other piece. So, when you go to plug into your amp, the magnets just snap together with no audible and annoying pop. And because of this feature and utilizing the extra tips, multiple guitar players can switch guitars in a snap!” says Sales & Marketing Director, Diane Nguyen.

Jodavi, Inc has first introduced the SNAP JACK at the Musikmesse Frankfurt show in Germany on April 2007. From there, it is now distributed in 23 countries. ZZYZX Snap Jack is now finally distributed in the U.S. introducing it at the Summer NAMM show in Austin, Texas on July 27 – 29. It was recognized as “Best In Show” and the winner of the “Gotta Stock It” category. It has just been nominated for Best Guitar Accessory in this year’s Music & Sound Awards.

Snap Jack cables are available in 15 ft. and 20 ft on the straight and angle cables. It also comes with extra Snap Jack tips which are sold separately. ($53 retail for 15 ft; $57 for 20ft; 2 extra tips in a package $29).

my path. my dream. My Walden

Walden Guitars introduce a total of five instruments to its Natura 500 line of guitars: Two new body shapes and another instrument with the Natura TB finish:

OCHESTRA MODEL : O550 & O550CE
Our “O” body OM guitar is reminiscent of the Martin model for which it is named and accented by Walden family features. Micro-dot fingerboard position markers and a reduced size pick-guard finish the instrument adding a charming intimacy to this guitar’s appearance. With a shape that is smaller than Walden’s “G” body shape, the O body is highly popular amongst finger-stylists and female guitar players. It retains volume and complexity by not being too small with a 25.6” / 650mm scale ensuring enough string energy to power the soundboard. The O body’s shallower side depth further contributes to its focused voice without the boom of its larger bodied cousins. Many people find the shallower depth to be easier to play, particularly among younger players and women.

Walden Guitars introduce two models in the O body shape within the Natura 500 line: O550 (with specifications similar to our D550), and an O550CE (a cutaway-acoustic with Fishman CL4 on-board electronics).

TRAVEL GUITARS : T550 & T550CE
The “T” body shape is a 7/8 sized guitar with a 24.2” / 615mm scale length. It is similar to a parlor guitar with a slightly wider lower bout. Braced appropriately for its shape, the T produces surprising volume and has a focused voice making it particularly pleasing as a solo-lead instrument. Its short scale results in a lower string tension that adds to its easy playability. Micro dot fingerboard position markers and a smaller Walden family pick-guard complete this little charmer’s attractive presentation. Being easy to pack in a gig bag and toss in your car or take on the plane, many musicians will likely find a wonderful little partner in a Walden T.

The T body will be available in two models: T550 and T550CE. Specifications not mentioned above are similar to Walden’s Natura D550 and D550CE models.

D550TB
Building on the widely successful Natura G570TB, Walden add a Dreadnought version of this instrument in 2008. Like other Natura 550 models this instrument will feature a solid spruce soundboard and is finished with the Tobacco-Burst finish pattern used on the Natura G570TB.

MAPEX RELEASES NEW THICK FLAMED MAPLE SNARE

Mapex USA has added a Thick Flamed Maple model (BPFM4600THT) to its line-up of high quality Black Panther snares. The snare features a 15-ply, 12mm thick all-maple shell and rounded bearing edges that increase shell contact with the head. Drum dimensions are 14×6.

“What we created is a snare drum with a dark, full-bodied sound and an incredibly soft feel,” commented Joe Hibbs, Mapex Product Development Manager. The drum has a deep snare bed to further enrich the sound and enhance player control.

The exterior ply of the shell is a beautiful highly figured maple veneer finished in a transparent Honey Maple Burst lacquer. Polished to a deep, rich shine, it enhances the depth of the wood grain. The drum features chrome plated, low mass, single-point-of-contact lugs, die cast hoops and a fully adjustable throw-off and butt plate.

MAPEX artist Will Calhoun played the Thick Flamed Maple snare for the first time at the 2007 Shanghai MESSE where he instantly fell in love with it. Will said, “Beautiful Color, complete dynamic range for Rock, Jazz, Funk, Fusion, R & B. This is the best multi-task snare drum I’ve ever played. Sensitive, with room to explode. The sound of a wooden with the volume of a brass snare.”

All flamed maple snare drums come with a BP Deluxe snare bag.

KORG Music Workstation 20th Anniversary

The year 2008 marks the 20th anniversary of the famous Korg M1 Music Workstation, the product that first defined the workstation category and redefined music making. Back in 1988, the M1 was the first product that combined a keyboard with realistic sounds (the first to use completely PCM-sampled wave ROM), sequencing and digital multi-effects in a single package. Because the M1 was essentially an “all in one keyboard studio,” it enabled many DIY musicians to emerge. This concept was so widely embraced by the music community that it was quickly adopted and carried forward as a new platform by many companies, effectively helping to create a whole new generation of music.
The company’s history of music workstation innovations since the introduction of the M1 in 1988 includes venerated products such as the acclaimed T-series, the O1/W, Trinity series, KARMA and long-running Triton series.
Today, despite the rise in popularity of computer use in many aspects of music making, the music workstation continues to enjoy popularity and has taken on an additional role as it embraces new computer technology. Products such as the Korg M3 and the OASYS work seamlessly and powerfully with both computer platforms and integrate with most DAW platforms via their dedicated processors. Those Music Workstations provide a wealth of hardware control over software for an enhanced music-making experience.

pitchblack Pedal Tuner

Korg announces the pitchblack tuner as part of its newly-created advanced tuner series. It combines high precision and functionality in a rugged die-cast aluminum package designed to withstand the rigors of road use. The pitchblack is the size of a compact effect unit but boasts a large, easy-to-read LED display providing superb visibility in all lighting conditions and from any angle.
Equipped with 100% true bypass, the pitchblack ensures that a player’s tone remains intact and uncolored, whether the tuner is used independently or in a pedalboard as part of a chain of effects. The tuner’s 9-Volt DC output jack makes it possible to cascade power to other pedals when chaining effects.
The pitchblack’s precise tuning accuracy, +/-1 cent, is supported by four different tuning modes: Meter, Full Strobe, Half Strobe and Mirror. Meter mode is analogous to a needle-style meter. In Full Strobe mode, the LED meter stops streaming and both tuning guide LEDs light up when the correct pitch is achieved. In Half Strobe mode, the LEDs flow to the right of center if the instrument is sharp and to the left of center if it is flat; when the correct pitch is achieved, only the center LED lights up. Mirror mode uses a combination of LEDs to indicate how close or far a note is to the correct pitch; when in tune, the two LEDs on the left and right sides of the center LED meet in the middle of the display.

KREEDO – A new name for a well-known team with proven quality.

“Pooling resources” is the credo for the New Year. PRO REEDS and Krebs & Heinrich Oboereeds have put it into practice and called this joint venture, “KREEDO”:
We agree the spelling is unconventional, but you’ll immediately notice what we mean: the name blends KREbs and DOeringer and REEDs and lets you know clearly what it’s all about: REEDS for modern and historical oboes and bassoons.

Both companies already look back on valuable years of experience. The oboe reed specialists from Frankfurt are celebrating their 15th year in 2008, the bassoon experts from Munich will be celebrating their 10th anniversary next year. All together the companies constitute a 15-person team with a combined 25 years of experience, tradition, innovation and performance.

Premieres:
• an improved model for oboe d’amore with additional Guercio staples
• an improved model for English horn with new Guercio staples
• a new model for the Wolf children’s oboe with English horn staples
• cane and shapes for bassoon, contra-bassoon and baroque bassoon
• new machines for oboe and bassoon reed-making
• book presentation
• a new jazz reed model especially for jazz professionals in the USA
• “Alcione”, a new first-rate baroque bassoon reed for soloists
• Model “Sarcevic” — a top-notch soloist reed for the modern bassoon
• optimized mini-bassoon reeds in the Tiger-look

The Neolin

Presented at last year’s Frankfurt music fair as a patented prototype, the Neolin returns this year to Frankfurt as a handcrafted series-instrument, entirely made in France. The Neolin is a new acoustic instrument, which is combining elements of the violin and the mandolin and brings a new style of playing,
The owners of the first specimen, beginners as well as professionals, are enthusiastic.

This instrument which delights many musicians, intrigues others and irritates a few is first recognized by its asymmetrical design with a cutaway, its colour of natural wood and its fretted fingerboard.

But the Neolin holds other surprises yet, particularly concerning the sound. The bridge is fitted with an “anti-mute”, a mechanism as simple as ingenious which allows to render the sound more powerful and aggressive. The chinrest comprises a tremolo mechanism which permits to add a nice vibrato to the chords played in mandolin-style.
While the edges in synthetic rosin render the instrument more resistant to shocks, the tuning gears allow an easy tuning at any time.

The heart of this new instrument is the belly which differs considerably from a classical violin-belly in its construction. It gives the Neolin a modern sound which is just great to be amplified.

The price is as surprising as the instrument: 1500 to 2170 Euro for an instrument finished, varnished and set up by a master violin maker.

Paiste and Nicko McBrain Slave over Ride

Nottwil/Switzerland – The renowned Swiss cymbal maker Paiste announces the introduction of the Signature Reflector Bell Ride.

This special Ride was created by Paiste’s Sound Development team in collaboration with Nicko McBrain, who has awed drummers the world over for more than two decades with his relentless playing style in the cult metal band “Iron Maiden”, one of the most original and influential heavy metal bands in music history.

The Reflector Bell Ride is reminiscent of the Sound Creation Bell Ride, which Nicko McBrain used throughout the 1980’s. The original concept was updated according to his current specifications and executed in the Signature Series, utilizing Paiste’s unique Reflector finish.

The Reflector Bell Ride in 20″ and 22″ features a full, fairly dark, controlled, glassy and shimmering sound character, a clear full ping over a large, deep harmonic wash, and a dominant, strong bell, making it extremely well suited for the intricate ride stick work that is one of the hallmarks of Nicko McBrain’s playing style within the context of the music of Iron Maiden.

As a tribute to Nicko’s collaborative effort in the creation of this unique cymbal, the label “Powerslave” and a rendition of Iron Maiden’s mascot, Eddie, have been placed on the 22″ version of the cymbal.

Signature cymbals are entirely made by hand in Switzerland using traditional methods that have remained unchanged in over half a century.

Paiste to Triple Sound Choices in Twenty Series

Nottwil/Switzerland – The renowned Swiss cymbal maker Paiste announces a major expansion of the Twenty Series.

To create the cymbals, the company utilizes blanks of traditionally cast SnBz20 bronze obtained from its Turkish partner Murat Diril, which it then treats and refines in their Swiss manufacture using time-honored manual hammering and lathing methods.

In the process, the two worlds combine to create cymbals with a completely new blend of sound character and feeling that defies pre-conceived notions about origin and sound. Twenty cymbals thus feature at once the clarity, definition, functionality and musical harmony that are the hallmark of Paiste, and the dark, mystic and deeply warm musical feeling that is intrinsic to the original, ancient Turkish bronze.

As part of the greatly expanded selection, additional sizes in all the existing main-stream models are now offered, which include the Ride in 21″, the Crash in 17″, 19″ and 20″, the Hi-Hat in 12″ and 15″, the Splash in 8″ and 12″, and the China in 20″. A new section of lighter models is added to the assortment, which consists of the Light Ride in 20″ and 22″, the Thin Crash in 16″, 17″ and 18″, and the Light Hats in 14″. Two new China Models round out the expansion, the Mini China in 8″, 10″ and 12″, and the Thin China in 14″, 16″ and 18″.

Twenty cymbals, from the alloying to the hammering and lathing of the cymbals, are entirely made by hand according to ancient and traditional methods.

Paiste to Launch several New Signature Series Models

Nottwil/Switzerland – The renowned Swiss cymbal maker Paiste announces a significant expansion of the Signature Series.

The Crystal Thin in 16″, 18″ & 20″ and the Crystal Hats in 14″ feature the unique bell shape that was a Paiste innovation with the Sound Creation Mellow Crash in the late 1970s. The distinctive design allows the creation of cymbals with a beautifully sweet, silvery, warm and silky sound character and a high degree of responsiveness and control.

The Cool Bell in 8″ is a complete re-design of the long running Bell model. The new model takes full advantage of the Signature Bronze sound potency, and the resulting sound character gains mysteriously icy, shimmering and enveloping harmonic layers.

The Reflector Heavy Full Crash in 16″, 17″, 18″, 19″, 20″ and 22″ offers the best of both worlds for players that were forever caught in the dilemma between the beauty of a Full Crash and the strength of a Power Crash.

The Reflector Heavy Full Hi-Hat in 14″ was designed as a counterpart to the Reflector Heavy Full Crash. As such, this very balanced model offers the responsiveness and control of a medium weight Hi-Hat yet features consistent cutting power and strength and a fairly dirty, full, barking and piercing sound character.

The Reflector Splash in 8″ & 10″ is an addition to the program that provides at once a bright and shiny appearance and the slightly equalized harmonics and glassiness of the Reflector Finish.

PERCUSSA TO DEMO NEW MIDI BRIDGE SOFTWARE, IMPROVED REASON COMPATIBILITY

FEBRUARY 28 – MERE, BELGIUM — Percussa, a Belgium based electronic musical instruments company, will demo its AudioCubes hardware platform with Propellerheads Reason at the upcoming Musikmesse. AudioCubes are a unique and visually intriguing performance tool that can be used as fully assignable MIDI controllers for music and multimedia as well as a standalone wireless digital/analog lo-fi sound generator and processor.

When used as a controller, the AudioCubes translate their physical positioning and proximity (including external surfaces) to Trigger and scalable Continuous Controller information, which can be routed via its Midi Bridge software to other applications such as as Ableton Live, Reason, softsynths, plug-in FX and physical MIDI devices. Through construct development programs such as Cycling 74’s Max/MSP/Jitter these capabilities can be extended to the control of Lighting, Video, even electromechanical Installations, and open a world of research and education possibilities in which hands-on interaction with technology plays a key role.

Besides presenting an update to the MIDI Bridge application and manuals for AudioCubes, Percussa will demo improved compatibility with Propellerhead Software Reason 4 through a new remote codec, to be released as a free download for all AudioCubes users after the Musikmesse. Among the other improvements of its MIDI Bridge software are sensor scaling and inversion, and a preset system.

More than just an alternate controller, the AudioCubes inspire creative new approaches to your productions.

Playalong a new concept in online music courses and music entertainment

Playalong was founded in 2003 by two musicians from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and University College of Music Education in Stockholm. The business concept was to gather the best musicians and educators and offer the best teaching methods using the best technical platform and web site. The aim was to provide music instruction courses to students who could not access training because of long queues to music colleges as well as to offer individually customized courses with new techniques wherever the students wanted the material delivered.

Playalong’s teachers all have documented higher education in music combined with many years experience as professional musicians. Playalong’s core values in learning are educational, personal and fun.

Playalong’s educational model is based on a three dimensional, cross functional method which has its origin in a long tradition of Scandinavian schooling. The material is divided into lessons and songs which all follow the same educational method. Playalong’s web site also provides other services such as downloading sheet music as well as tips and techniques.

Playalong produces and records the educational material using video music lessons. Currently, lessons are available for more than ten musical instruments and singing lessons. Distribution is by DVD, the web, mp3 for both sound and images using downloadable and streaming lessons. Playalong’s endeavor to always be at the cutting edge of technical development means that it can now provide lessons in a broad range of media. Today there are ca 500 lessons by more than 20 teachers available for download from the web site.

So far, Playalong has released more than ten music instruction courses for guitar, bass, drums and keyboard on DVD. More than 20,000 DVDs have been sold, of which 10,000 are the Play! Guitar DVD. Rocker Music Tools Launch at Musikmesse Frankfurt

Toronto, Canada – February 29th, 2008
Rocker Music Tools began with the need for a quality instrument cable, and in less than 2 years has become an extremely successful product line, sold at the largest retailers in Canada. With its launch into the Canadian Market in 2006 and the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas in 2008, Rocker Music Tools is now expanding beyond North America. Musikmesse Frankfurt will inaugurate the products on an international scale.

With the introduction of the accessory line in 2007, Rocker materialized into a complete line of musical instruments and accessories. All of the Rocker instruments are packaged for beginner to intermediate players, complete with the accessories and tools needed to begin playing an instrument, including items such as tuners, carrying cases, and a 2-hour lesson DVD in all of the guitar packages.

“Rocker Music Tools provides an opportunity for kids to buy a quality musical instrument at a lower price point” according to Earl Johnson, VP Sales and Marketing of Power Group Ltd. Johnson also was the lead guitarist for Moxy, a hard rock band with 4 major worldwide releases specifically in Europe. “Europe has a great history of serious rock and roll and Rocker would be a great brand for the European marketplace”.

With various Rocker products ranging from Acousitc, Electric, and Bass Guitars to Drumsets, Strings, and Accessories, the focus has been providing a compelling reason to buy the product and “after-sale support” to keep that customer engaged. Packaged in strong, full-colour retail packaging allows for great visibility and easy sale of the products on a showroom floor.

Rocker Music Tools is a Toronto based manufacturer of quality musical instruments and accessories.

MTD Introduces the Kingston Z “X” Limited Edition Bass

Power Group, Toronto based distributors of fine Musical Instrument and Professional Audio products, in conjunction with Michael Tobias Designs announce the introduction of the limited edition KZX models of basses.

The KZX, available initially in a 5 string version, is an evolution of the popular “Z” basses currently on the market. “I wanted to narrow the gap between my American Handmade basses and “Z” bass and the most logical and profound way was to upgrade the electronics package” states Michael Tobias. “The X version incorporates Bartolini pick-ups and a 9 volt pre-amp that are voiced similarly to the 18 volt system I use in the handmade instruments. The 3 band active pre-amp features a switchable midrange that is activated via a push-pull pot on the Midrange EQ control and an active/passive selector that is activated via a push-pull pot on the Master Volume control. This system really brings out the tone of the wood and offers the player a full pallete of sonic colors.” Ron Larcombe, CEO Power Group says “The foundation of our relationship with MTD is based on bringing Michael’s brilliant designs to bassists who demand craftsmanship and musicality from an instrument but need those attributes in an affordable package. The “X” is a wonderfully logical evolution and we’re anticipating this instrument to be embraced by any discriminating bassist.”

Digital Distribution on your own PC

A Software ‘made in Austria’ revolutionizes the music market

Is it possible, that the future of the music industry is made up in a small, idyllic village in Lower Austria? It looks like that. With their Distribution Software Günter Loibl and his distribution team are demonstrating, that times of upheaval are also times to turn sparkling visions over.
„Rebeat Digital“, so the name of the software „out of the box“, solved a plenty of essential details easier and smarter then the rivalry. Worldwide distribution does no longer demand complicated contracts or voluminous activities of managers any more. Sufficient to install the Software (nota bene: on your own PC), to have a bank account and a valid credit card, to proceed an unbureaucratic registration and to be creative when promoting your product. Platforms like MySpace, YouTube or Last.fm simplify such actions over the last years already. Having a website and cultivating contacts on concerts are considered already anyway.
Günter Loibl attaches importance to fairness. 85 percent out of the income (less potential royalties) remain at the artist. Obstructive long-term contract bindings do not exist. The royalties processing is managed worldwide. And there is transparent insight to Income, Downloads and accounting. The costs for the Software (one time 99,- Euros in the trade or online) and the storage fee (one time 1,- Euro for each song are straightforward as well. The cause, that “Rebeat Digital” is not – yet – available for Mac users, also isn’t insurmountable obstacle, since the machines can be configured as PC via Boot Camp. Answers and solutions to this and many other questions are to be found on the website http://www.rebeat.com, where you can also contact the Support at the click of your mouse. The fast and cooperative supervision well surprised many a user in a favorable way already.

‘The response is immense’, so Loibl smilingly. ‘Future already happens today.”

Exercise: control.

The Digital Jockey by Reloop is dedicated to the future: It makes playing, mixing and manipulating music from a computer’s hard disc as easy as using DJ CD-players and a mixing console. At the core, the Reloop Digital Jockey is a fully assignable MIDI controller that can send up to 69 MIDI parameters that are accessible via buttons, faders, encoders, push-rotaries, and two oversized high resolution jog wheels. A huge Trax-encoder allows for the most intuitive browsing in music libraries. The Digital Jockey is easily connected and powered via USB, making it ideal for mobile use. The Interface Edition features a high grade 4-channel 16 bit/48 kHz USB audio-interface. With that, the Reloop Digital Jockey can be directly connected to the PA, headphones and microphone. Intelligent Quality.

With the Reloop IQ.2+ Reloop establishes an integral mixer concept that fuses creativity, handling, and design resulting in a new mixer standard. The IQ.2+ USB proves its qualities as remixer due to its extensive DSP effect unit that exhibits a manual filter with a low pass/high pass modulation. The three crossfader effects, Filter X, Delay X, and Pitch X, which manually and automatically improve the channel cross-fade are innovative and intuitive. The result: a real fusion of both tracks in the mix. Adjustable high-quality faders, handy equalizer potentiometers, minifader for cue mix and dry/wet as well as the oversized, vintage-styled master volume turning knob enable easy control. The IQ mixer’s design is singularly aggressive and well arranged at the same time: the upper cover panel has a feeble rubberpaint finish, the lower panel is made of brushed aluminum. In contrast, the glowing red knob illumination and LEDs are distinctive. Two hi speed USB ports facilitate the integration into computer-supported peripherals. This way the IQ.2+ USB becomes the interface of a digital sound experience.

Aheadphones.

With the RHP series, Reloop introduces a new generation of premium headphones that will be appealing and inspiring to demanding DJs. The RHP-10 unites a modern, lightweight design with a robust construction, noble materials and luxurious features. In spite of the enormous driver units, the ear cups are constructed in a plain and compact way – space saving and light. The bracket is top-class in all aspects: the aluminum bar grants stability and lightness, the precise adjustment allows an accurate alignment and the double casing with the upper made of artificial leather and the lower side made of fluid-absorbing Climabsorb net-nylon guarantees wearing comfort and robustness. Two enclosed cords (plain and spiral) are Reloop standard. Furthermore enclosed to the RHP-10 there are 2 differently sized ear paddings. Due to the large cut-out, the paddings clasp around the ears and offer maximum acoustic baffle. The small cut-out lets the cups bear on the ears which is especially comfortable. Of course all connections are gold-plated and angular.

Pure Quality.

With the RMX-40 DSP Ltd., Reloop presents the exclusive design variant of the German DJ products manufacturer’s most successful 4 channel proferssional mixer. The limited edition of the RMX-40 has been equipped with a completely white interfacce: cover plate, potentiometers and fader caps all glisten in 2008’s interior-decoration colour. With this, Reloop has built a bridge between a high-quality device for professional DJs and lifestyle object. Although the mixer is already really well-structured its colour alone increases its functionality as the LED and effect displays are in contrast to the white colouring, making them even more identifiable. Big brothers of the world’s smallest Ukulele

Some years ago RISA Musical Instruments presented the worldwide smallest stringed serial instrument with the Uke-Solid-Soprano. This small and robust electric ukulele has a full scale length and even more frets than a standard ukulele, which ensures a perfect playability despite the small dimensions. The instrument became the best selling electric ukulele worldwide. The special design avoids bothersome acoustical feedback on stage and makes this ukulele the ideal travel and practicing companion. Some time ago we already introduced the bigger version Uke-Solid-Tenor. Due to the success of the Uke-Solids the series of the Soprano (363 mm scale length) and Tenor (432 mm scale length) is completed by the Uke-Solid-Concert with a scale length of 385 mm. Small instruments for small people

More and more schools worldwide discovered the ukulele as the ideal beginner instrument for the musical education in primary schools. While only few schools in Germany use the ukulele, wide areas of Canada, Scandinavia and Hawaii (the area where the ukulele is originated) use the ukulele as their standard education instrument. So far it was difficult to change from the recorder to the ukulele due to higher cost of a beginner ukulele of good quality. RISA Musical Instruments, the distributor of Kala Brand Ukulele, now introduces a reasonable priced instrument, which fulfills the demands of an educational beginner instrument. The Makala-Color-Ukuleles are very low budget beginner instruments covering all needs to have fun. Playability, tuneability, and intonation are on an unknown quality level in this price range. It’s not a toy, it’s a ukulele!

L&R System – A Big Bang in the World of Drums

The snare strip has always been tensioned and slackened with a lever mechanism. This has now been replaced with a spring tensioning system. The L&R System is a completely re-think of drum snare adjustment mechanisms; an automatic system facilitating a 3- setting snare adjuster.

After three years of development we have finally been able to complete this ingenious new system.

The crucial difference to conventional snare release and tensioners is that snare is constantly automatically tensioned. The tension transmission enables the snare to relax very slightly. By pressing the buttons in three steps the snare can be lifted a step at a time, also producing an additional sound variation which can also be controlled by way of a foot pedal. Conscious striking of the resonance skin can expand the sound variations without the use of hands; completely redefining the snare sound.

The advantages of the L&R System 3-setting tension-release system with a foot pedal:
• Tension is achieved automatically via the force exerted by the spring
• Two buttons enable three different sounds to be produced
• Three sound settings on the resonance head
• The clip automatic snare change system enables snares to be changed in seconds
• System changing mechanism featuring an automatic clip for other snare and tension systems, i.e. special snares
• Spring powered wheel enables automatic parallel lifting of snares.

Freely adjustable L&R System

The L&R System 3-setting automatic mechanism facilitates smooth and complete freedom of setting by unlocking the adjusting levers. If this setting is chosen all other settings are deactivated and the snare band is automatically kept taught.

Connecting up the regulating head operated via the cable to the foot pedal enables the drummer to completely and smoothly regulate snare position and tension – from no contact to full tension – in hands-free status. Hence, when the foot pedal is released – the snare band is automatically tense; pressing the foot pedal relaxes the snare band. If the foot pedal is used correctly, when the snare is not being used it is possible to tension and release the snare in such a way as to avoid the production of snare noise.

A double cable pull foot pedal is used in the operation of the 2 tension-release elements left and right, guaranteeing parallel snare adjustment.

Chatschaturjan: Sonatine

Khachaturian wrote his brilliant C major Sonatina in 1959 and dedicated it to pupils of the Elementary Music School in Prokopyevsk. Its modest structures and aspirations should not hide from us the fact that it is extraordinarily effective as a concert display piece and contains more than its fair share of humour and lyricism too. The opening movement contrasts two subject groups, restates each one, and leaves it at that. The slow movement is a lad pastoral lullaby that is rhythmically gentle and harmonically simple. The finale is most extensive, most virtuosic and highly exciting, with a coda that quotes the opening of the first movement and a final flourish that Sounds strangely close to Poulenc. In sum, the Sonatina is a work not to miss!

New Semiconcert Grand from Steingraeber & Söhne in Bayreuth

The new Steingraeber & Sons D-232, the “little brother” of the E-272 concert grand, will be introduced at the 2008 Frankfurt Music Exhibition. The family resemblance is immediately apparent in the shape of the outer rim. Both the D and E models include the same excellent acoustic features, such as the symmetrically shaped rim with a sound reflection zone at the rear, unique plate design which eliminates forward cross-braces and precisely limited sounding board area – the result is a tone that is present and singing.

Upon second glance, extraordinary features become apparent:
– the D-232 has the lightest top lid of any grand piano, up to 33% lighter than industrially manufactured lids, which contributes extra overtones to the core sound.
– the capo d’astro bar extends across forty-six unisons to just above the middle of the keyboard, thereby encompassing the largest pitch range of any piano. This concept is unique to Steingraeber and is of-fered nowhere else in the world. Only forty-two unisons pass through agraffes!

Clearly, the goal of Steingraeber’s piano builders is to give even greater brilliance and reverberation to the wonderfully singing tone for which Steingraeber pianos are already famous! It goes without saying that the “7-foot-7” (as the D-232 is called in America) also comes with a well-known Steingraeber spe-cialty, the drilled capo d’astro bar. This creates little bridges between every tone from the bar to the plate, adding structural stability and contribute to the exceptionally long sustain.
Thanks to twenty to twenty-five grams of upweight with a downweight of 48g in the treble and 52g in the bass, playing has never been more enjoyable, lightning fast, or controllable down to the softest pia-nissimo.
Synthetic ivory key tops, based on slightly hygroscopic mineral material, and solid ebony keys com-plete the great feel of this piano. Mammoth ivory is also available as an option on Steingraeber pianos.

Magnetic fallback without jack springs

The Steingraeber & Söhne SFM action with grand-piano touch in upright piano models 122, 130, and 138

Four years of research and development came to a close in September 2007, following extensive testing. The result is a new product which is fully developed and offers the ergonomic qualities of grand piano mechanisms in upright pianos.

A Summary of the Design Process
2003-2004: Steingraeber tests began, using special parts in Renner mechanisms.
2005: The first prototype was presented in a Steingraeber 130. This DFM action was equipped with two magnets, a backstop-wire and -lead. Both types of springs, hammer-butt and jack, were dispensed with.
2006: The DFM was developed into the DSFM mechanism by Wolfgang Schäffler (Steingraeber’s production manager). Performance was optimized, and undesirable side-effects like “double strikes” were eliminated. Since October 2006, piano master builder Schäffler has collaborated on further refinements with Renner’s head of operations, Günter Kolb.
September 2007: Renner delivered the first, completed SFM parts (“Steingraeber-Ferro-Magnets”)  all features were tested and optimized. In anticipation of future EU lead regulations, lead free balance hammers were used.

1) Magnet #1 underneath the hammer-butt leather.
2) Magnet #2, located at the tip of the jack, is activated by magnet #1.
3) No jack springs were used.
All parts are produced by Renner in Gärtringen.

It is an all-original Taylor design, from its sensuous-feeling, jewelry-like cast-aluminum bridge, to its ergonomically sculpted body, right down to volume and tone knobs shaped for easy pinky finger control. Proprietary humbuckers, “Style One” (3/4-size covered pickups on the Custom and Classic) or “Style Two” (full-size open-coil on the Standard) offer striking combinations of vintage warmth and contemporary power, and can be configured through a sturdy five-way switch. Exotic koa and curly ash tops are inset in a sapele body on Custom and Standard models, while the Classic body is carved from a single slab of Swamp ash and sports a pearloid pickguard.
The U.K.’s Guitarist magazine lauds the SolidBody as “one of the more forward-looking guitars of recent years. You could easily justify owning one alongside your cherished Les Paul, SG, Tele or even ES-335. The trouble might be, which one?”

New: Transversal Flute, tuned to the key of Cb

VIENTO Querflöten presents a real novelty at the Musikmesse 2008 in Frankfurt: The VIENTO FL 100 R-Ces, a transversal concert flute, but pitched in the key of Cb.
This new Cb-Flute can be played in marching bands, without modifying the Cb music sheets.
In many arrangements for marching bands the music sheets for flutes are written for a Cb key. Playing a transversal concert flute in such an arrangement is quite demanding for the flutist, as he/she has to play 7b accidentals.
The new flute FL 100 R – Ces from VIENTO provides an elegant solution: it is tuned to the key Cb. Now for the first time a transversal concert flute can be played in marching bands besides the traditional marching band Cb-flutes.
With a robust, but easy to play mechanics and a powerful, clear sound, this new flute has been designed specifically to the requirements of flutists in marching bands.

amPlug Headphone Guitar Amplifier

VOX exhibits the amPlug palm-sized, battery powered headphone guitar amplifier. Users can plug it directly into their guitar (via its built-in 1/4″ plug), and enjoy professional-quality guitar sounds anywhere, anytime. Additionally, an AUX input jack allows the user to jam along with an iPod or MP3 player. The amPlug is available in three different sound styles: amPlug AC30, for signature VOX AC30 top boost tone; amPlug Classic Rock, which delivers the sound of a “classic” British 100-Watt head; and amPlug Metal, which is based on a U.S. made high-gain amplifier head that delivers metal high-gain tone. Visually, the amPlug looks like a miniature VOX amplifier, complete with a simulation of the classic VOX black vinyl covering and the famous VOX diamond grill cloth. Using proprietary analog modeling technology, the amPlug accurately reproduces the complex and warm distortion that is distinctive of a vacuum tube, as well as the powerful high gain produced by a large amp stack, despite its ultra-compact dimensions (3.39″ x 3.15″ x 1.22″) and weight (1.41oz., not including batteries). It offers up to twenty hours of battery life from 2 AAA batteries.

satchurator Joe Satriani & VOX Distortion Pedal

VOX Amplification announces the introduction of the first pedal in an ongoing collaboration with guitar icon Joe Satriani the satchurator™ analog distortion pedal. Designed to Satriani’s exact specifications, the satchurator produces Satriani’s signature tone and adds new features and improvements never before combined in a distortion pedal. The satchurator is capable of very high gain levels, but operates more quietly and musically than other modern distortion pedals. It also preserves the tone and pick-attack of the guitarist plugging into it, regardless of style––from subtly distorted blues tones through classic rock and shred. The result is a professional-quality pedal that recaptures sought-after vintage and modern sounds in a powerful, versatile and extremely musical pedal design. The satchurator is the most musical, most dynamic, multi-function distortion pedal I’ve ever played through,” says Satriani. “This little red box is a monster tone generator. Following my specifications without compromise, and adding design innovations I never thought possible, the VOX team has delivered exactly what I need for the stage as well as the studio: a distortion pedal that responds to my touch, and produces a big, natural, harmonically rich tone compatible with any guitar/pedal/amp configuration.”

Virage Electric Guitar

The Virage DC and Virage SC are solid wood guitars with a number of innovative features including ergonomically curved bodies. This unique curvature hugs close to the player, and, when combined with the guitars’ slightly smaller than typical body size and their arched-top profile, affords a comfortable right arm playing position unlike previous semi-hollow offerings, as well as overall unprecedented playing comfort. The result is a guitar that “fits” perfectly whether the guitarist is sitting or standing.
Both instruments employ the proprietary VOX Three-90™ Pickup System. Its analog circuitry requires no batteries or active electronics, and provides hum free operation regardless of the tone selected. A three-way toggle makes selecting pickups quick and easy. Users can jump between clean, crunch and lead modes independently for each pickup with a quick flick of each pickup’s 3-way mode switch.
The guitars feature Integral Tonebar™ construction that keeps feedback at bay and yields the warm, singing resonance of a semi-hollow instrument with the focused attack of a solidbody. The specially designed VOX Full Contact™ aluminum bridge provides thick, rich tone with clear harmonics. Extended saddle travel ensures perfect intonation for any gauge string. String loading from the back edge of the bridge enables quick and effortless string changes.

the guitarist’s ultimate dream

XOX Audio Tools is proud to announce that it has launched newest version of the Handle, the most revolutionary carbon fiber guitars of our times.

The improvements include a choice of inlays, the Handle’s sleek black carbon fiber fretboards come standard with the single-dot inlay, a sharp 12th fret marker in mother of pearl; or as an optional add-on the zig-zag inlay, an electrifying white resin design. And on top of that, the Handle now comes with a truss rod to give the musician the chance to adjust the set up for his individual playing style.

Why carbon fiber? Carbon fiber offers a much wider harmonic range than wood. The extreme rigidity of this material combined with the Handle’s mono-chassis construction favors perfect transmission of acoustic vibrations for everlasting sustain. Its hollow section creates a resonance chamber for extra warmth.
Carbon fiber is ultra light and incredibly resistant, it won’t bend or deform under high temperatures or humidity.

The Handle was built from the guitarist’s dreams up, it boasts a slim neck, 24 frets, light weight, and a concave body, all of which breathing speed and comfort. The all European construction begins with the highly skilled carbon lay-up process, and is decked out with top of the line American components.

The Handle has won the prestigious ‘Good Design’ award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum, and NAMM 2008’s ‘Most Innovative Product” award.

Zerberus-Guitars Hydra II

Based on the design of our Hydra I, after one year development time we have
created the Hydra Mark II.
The Hydra II was built in a small range of only 120 pcs. mostly in handicraft.
The Body is made of solid Korina wood with a solid 18 mm maple top and a stunning selected and perfect bookmatched quilted maple veneer.
Alone the little weight of Korina is astounding.
The tonal characteristic is amazing.
Weighing in at just 3,6 kilograms, the Hydra II is very comfortable to hold.
This guitar fascinates with phantastic sustain and rapid attack.
But the one-of-a-kind character of the Hydra II arises from the composition of its components, the exceptional design and most of all the concept that stands behind that guitar.
The neck, that is properly glued and set into the body is made of best hard Maple.
The comfortable neck has a 25,5” scale and 24 medium jumbo frets that are rounded, dressed and polished accurately.
Thanks to the selected tonewood and the masterly workmanship, the Hydra II surprises with remarkable volume and a very differentiated sound even when it is played unplugged.
With the aim to transform the very hamonic character and the unplugged sound potential perfectly into electrical oscillations we have developed the Kammerstein Quadrail humbucker as the perfect pickup for the Hydra II.

Zerberus-Guitars Morpheus II

During its development, we applied all our skill and experience to produce a guitar that would cover a wide spectrum of tonal characteristics and styles.
In an era of mass-produced clones, copies and imitations, its aesthetic appearance alone speaks volumes.
The goal was to build a robust and versatile ‘dream’ guitar that would meet any and all professional demands, but which also had strong on-stage visual credibility.
With its set neck joint construction and string-through-body configuration, even unplugged, the sound of the Morpheus is truly amazing.
And with its powerful passive electronics, resonant timbers and high-sustain hard-tail bridge, it delivers fully on its promise plugged in.
Its powerful, penetrating output never becomes muddy or distorted.
In clean humbucker mode, the guitar lends itself to soft, melodic jazz.
Turn up the gain and the Morpheus exhibits a darker, aggressive personality.
The fast attack and low-noise circuitry make it ideal as a heavy metal axe; one that will howl and scream through any high-gain solo.
When switched to coil-splitting mode, the character of the guitar changes so dramatically, it’s difficult to believe it’s still the same instrument.
a blues, rock-and-roll, or country music workhorse with a raunchy vintage twang.
